The instructions indicate that it is best to run the bike without the O2 sensor connected so the ECU does not try to correct the fuel ratio. You don't need a laptop or files it is all done with LED's and buttons on the controller so it can be fine tuned to compensate for any air, and exhaust mods. It has 6 modes that can be adjusted and each mode has 15 possible settings where you can add or subtract the amount of fuel. I had used an EJK controller on my WR250R and it worked great for that bike, so I purchased one and sent the ECU back to Toce to have it flashed back to stock, and I am installing the controller now and have removed the air box blocking so it is open on both sides again. I did some internet searching and found EJK now had a piggy back fuel controller available for the R3. ![]() So I took my air box back out and sealed the left side back to stock, but kept the right side open, put it back together and went for a test ride and it ran much better but was still running lean. ![]() I contacted Toce to let him know and I was told that they were working on getting an R3 in their shop to do testing and would probably be able to correct the issue after testing their bike, but it might take a few more weeks. When cold it ran pretty rough indicating a lean mixture. I installed it and went for a test drive and it did run better but still not like it should. So I sent the ECU back to them and they did the re-flash and sent it back to me. I had contacted Toce and let them know about the issue I was having and they said they would re-flash the ECU at no cost to try to make it run better after I sent photos of the air box mod. Thanks to all the members that have responded to my post. I am hoping to hear from someone that has installed the Yoshi exhaust to hear how they like it. But both options will allow you to get the most out of the engine, where sending the ECU to a person with a list of upgrades you have made that will make changes without a dyno and sending it back to you would for sure make me wonder if I am really getting all the performance possible with no way to verify it. So far they don't make a unit for the R3. With the EJK Tuner there are no files to install, you make the changes right from the tuner with + or - settings for 6 different throttle positions so you can tune it exactly to your intake / exhaust setup which works very well. I realize that installing a Power Commander on your bike after installing an exhaust system and modifying the air box / filter requires you to either have the bike dyno tuned in order to get the best possible performance from the upgrades, or installing a file from a person with a similar setup.
